Here in the UK, the winters seem to last forever! Freezing cold days, dark nights not my favorite time of year but the snow was forecast, and we just love snow! We needed to wrap the little one up warm and cozy, but we also needed waterproofs, so we toured to Muddy Puddles.

Who are Muddy Puddles?
Muddy Puddles who are a British brand who started off with a mum at a kitchen table in Devon who sold her all in one suit at local country fairs over 20 years ago. The company has gone from strength to strength and their philosophy “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong kit” was something I can relate too as I have worked as a dog walker for 11 years. As long as I have the correct kit on for the weather then I completely agree with their philosophy.
- They are waterproof, durable and breathable
- Bright and colourful unisex designs
- They are built to last! Hallelujah!
- Affordable prices
They believe children should be outdoors playing which is something I couldn’t agree with more.
I’m going to be reviewing three items gifted to us from muddy puddles. We took a trip to the peak district to try out the boy’s new waterproofs on a cold and snowy day.
Puddleflex Insulated Jacket
I decided on the Puddleflex Insulated jacket for my five-year-old. He loves bright colors so we picked the yellow, It also comes in navy and red but there is something I’ve always loved about yellow raincoats.
The first thing I noticed about the coat was the quality, the lining was fleecy all the way through to the hood and insulated meaning it would keep them warm. I’ve found over the years that raincoats can be really cold and ridged but this coat is durable and when I put it on my son, he was able to run and move freely in it due to the soft material.
Another important feature for me was the ribbed storm cuff which stops the cold wind getting in the coat. We were able to tuck gloves in comfortably and securely knowing he was nice and snug in the snow.

I love the fact it has double ended zip for things like toilet trips! Makes it so much easier not having to undress him! My son loved the bright color of the coat and knowing he would be warm and dry (as it’s complete waterproof 10,000mm) is exactly what every parent wants.
The coat is a great length and protects all the way to just above the knee so when paired with wellies provided a great barrier against the wet weather. My son was able to sit down in the snow and not get wet, perfect as we had an hour drive home, wet bums aren’t comfortable!

The coat comes in ages 18-24 all the way up to 11-12 years. I love to dress my boys the same so once the little one is 18 months, I’ll be buying him a matching raincoat as I’ve been so impressed with this one. After my son had been rolling down the hills in the snow the coat was a bit muddy, but I was able to wipe it down easily, I know that in rainy weather it will get worse and I’ll be able to put it in the washing machine which for a waterproof coat is fantastic!
This coat is perfect for the snow in the winter or rainy days in the spring, definitely multi-seasonal, we will be keeping it out for those crisp spring morning walks. Muddy Puddles also give a one-year guarantee with all their range!
- Coat is ultra waterproof up to 10000mm
- The beautiful zig zag lining is polar fleece to keep kids warm and cosy
- Padding is 160gm
- All the seams are fully tapered
- The coat was definitely made with kids in mind, soft, durable PU fabric
- Zips have reflective fabric for safety
- Coat can be washed in the washing machine at 30degrees
- Outer material: 100% polyester 290T recycled. Fleece 100% polyester
Muddy Puddles Wellies Review
Wellies are a must in our house with having two dogs who love to go out no matter what the weather. We loved the look of the Puddlestomper wellies in white navy stripe. The Blue and white stripes wrap around the waterproof boot giving a classic look. They come in two other colours, red interstellar and blue raindrop and range from size 6 infant to 4 youth.
Wellies can sometimes be stiff and uncomfortable with no added padding, but we only needed one pair of socks to make them comfortable and secure. My son said he was quite happy wearing them and “loving having dry feet in the wet snow” his words. He was running up and down a snowy hill in them without a mention of them hurting or rubbing which wellies sometimes can do.

His feet were completely dry and clean when we came to take them off for the car journey home. Matched with his Puddleplex yellow jacket I thought he looked adorable and completely ready for the snowy weather. These durable waterproof wellies have a sturdy grip on them for when kids go splashing in muddy puddles (no pun intended).
They come up the leg just below the knee giving impressive coverage to keep little legs dry especially in the deep snow. At the back of the wellie is a reflective panel from top to bottom to keep kids safe and observable when out playing. We don’t often go out at night but knowing this is on the back when walking near roads is an added safety bonus to the wellies.
My son has asked to wear his wellies numerous times since we have gotten them, even in the drier weather.

- These high-quality rubber wellies are durable and if looked after can last months or years.
- Great safety feature of a reflective strip on the back of the wellies.
- The soles are super grippy so when playing the mud or snow you know they will grip well.
- The soles are soft padded for extra comfort.
EcoSplash All-In-One
For our 9-month-old we chose the Ecosplash all-in-one. We missed the postman when it got delivered so went to collect on a Saturday on our way to the peak district. I’m so glad we picked it up on the way as the Peak District was covered in snow and we wouldn’t have been able to put our little man in the snow for the first time without this suit. We chose the Navy Red Stripe which I thought looked adorable on him.

It also comes in Baltic interstellar from ages 0-6 months to 2-3 years. As soon as I opened it I was impressed, the high quality recyclable waterproof fabric which felt lightweight and movable, my son hates to be confined in coats but he moved around freely in this having his first feel of snow.
We used the fold over hand warmers to keep his little fingers nice and toasty as well as the detachable foot covers. He was covered from head to toe and looked nice and snug as the lining of the suit is all fleecy. I had to get my son dressed in the car and found the suit to be easy to put on and remove with a single zipper.

- This suit is waterproof to 5000mm
- Completely breathable 3000gm2
- Made from recycled material
- Warm cozy fleece lining
- Safety feature of reflective zips and print.
- Foldable hand warmers to keep little hands warm and dry
- Plus it is machine wasable, great for when they are covered in mud!
Final Thoughts
Although Muddy Puddles gifted us these jackets and wellies, I have to say I am really impressed. Yes, there are cheaper versions on the market but what I’ve learned from my 11 years as a dog walker is to invest well in good quality waterproof clothing.
They last so much longer, and the quality difference is immense. Muddy Puddles use high-quality materials which are instantly evident. My kids both stayed warm, dry and comfortable which is exactly what we want from waterproof clothing, so I am one happy impressed Mum, my only problem with Muddy Puddles is that they don’t do adult sizes!
