The ride is an exhilarating adventure taking you through the hills of Tennessee. You’ll glide along witnessing the stunning views that can’t be seen anywhere else in town at speeds of just under 30mph. The coaster consists of plastic sled suitable for one or two people with a back and a roll bar which is attached to a dual metal track.

Once reaching the top of the hill let gravity take its course whisking you down the bendy foothills of the smoky mountains at top speeds of 30mph. Don’t forget you control your speed with a hand brake letting you keep full control whether you want to go slow with little ones or speed down the mountain at full speed. What are the requirements to ride the Alpine Coaster?

For your own safety there are strict safety regulations imposed. Here are the following height, weight and age regulations to ride the coaster: –

  • The person controlling the sled must be at least 4.5 ft tall

  • You have to be a minimum of 16 years old to drive someone else.

  • The minimum height of the ride is set at 3.1 ft

  • The minimum age to ride is 3 years old.

  • The maximum height allowed is 7 ft.

  • The weight limit per sled is 375 pounds (330 in wet weather) for safety reasons.

The Coaster at Goats on the Roof tries to accommodate absolutely everyone. Their flexible opening hours make it so you can ride first thing in the morning or  late at nigh. The weather isn’t a problem either, come rain, hail or snow it all adds to the wonderful experience. The only time weather may interfere with the ride is during a thunder storm.

The Coaster at Goats on the Roof is located on Wears Valley Road in Pigeon Forge, TN. As you head toward Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, turn right off the main Parkway at light #3 onto Wears Valley Road in Pigeon Forge. Goats on the roof is located  2.5 miles down Wears Valley Road once you turn off the Parkway.

Don’t be tempted to try other coasters along the way, Goats on the roof is well worth the extra mile. If you don’t see goats, your in the wrong place!!
