Marriott Country Hall, Curiosity Room by Ted Review
We were lucky enough to be invited to stay at Marriott County Hall just before Christmas to experience their new curiosity rooms by TED. An interactive room for kids with puzzles and games around every corner. In this blog post, we will discuss what the room entails and all about the TED package.

About Marriott County Hall
Marriott County Hall is a five-star luxury hotel located in London’s bustling South Bank facing the iconic Big Ben, Westminster, and steeped in history as the hotel used to be the City Hall. There’s no better place to Indulge yourself in true Christmas spirit than here so it was lovely to be invited along just before Christmas.
We were truly captivated by the traditional yet classy Christmas decor as we entered the inviting lobby. We instantly felt at home and ready to explore the City at Christmas.

Our Room
After making our way to our room via the modern yet classically decorated hallways we were all excited to see our room as we were staying in the curiosity room by Ted, a fun interactive room designed for kids.

We walked into gasps by the boys who were instantly giddy and ready to play puzzles and games.
The curiosity room by TED holds many secrets and rewards and will keep the kids (& adults) occupied for hours.
We started off by reading the instructions and pulling up the clues to help us if we got stuck which was easily accessible from the QR code on the wall.

The boys excitedly ran around the room looking for clues hidden in unusual places. After they found the clues it was onto the next puzzle, even my 4-year-old was really getting into it!
We had many a surprise like invisible messages hidden on the blinds which we had to use a special UV pen light to find! There were secret buttons hidden on the walls and flashing lights with a secret compartment when we found the final clue and won!

I can’t tell you how much the boys loved finding the clues and interacting together nicely.. for a change! Hidden in the compartment was congratulations scroll with the grand prize of free ice cream after their dinner!

The boys absolutely loved the puzzles and challenges of the TED curiosity room and told me they wanted to do it all again in the morning. They were fascinated by the flashing TED light and asked if they could put it on after our meal in Gillray’s which is included in the package.

Dining at Gillray’s
Dining at Gillray’s steakhouse and bar is a truly fantastic experience, with local produce sourced from English farms and cooked to perfection! The warm welcoming dining room was lit up with twinkling fairy lights and impressive traditional Christmas trees.

We were shown to our table with the most spectacular view of the London eye and the river Thames. With it being Christmas we indulged in some delicious cocktails whilst we waited for our appetizers.
My fish starter was exquisite and something I had never tried before. I then opted for the steak and fries for my entree which was cooked to perfection. I was given the opportunity to choose which steak knife I wanted from an array of knives. The boys cleaned their plates and were excited to be served their warm brownies in a mini skillet with ice cream.

Breakfast is also served in Gillray’s between 7 am-10 am. There was plenty to choose from the breakfast menu and we decided on the one-pan English breakfast where the boys had the fluffy American pancakes with syrup.
We are your typical English family who loves a cup of English breakfast tea with our breakfast. Tea was served in a pot for us to pour ourselves which the boys loved doing.
The food at Marriott County Hall was some of the best meals we enjoyed whilst in London so even if you don’t stay at County Hall make sure you try Gillray’s Steak House.

Overall Experience
We honestly had the best stay at Marriott County Hall. Elegant yet homely at the same time, it was lovely to come back to the hotel after being out in the cold to warm up in our comfortable room whilst looking out to Big Ben! You can’t beat the view here. The TED interactive room really made the boy’s stay extra special!
It was lovely to watch them figuring out puzzles together and working so well as a team! The staff were so warm and welcoming and made us feel so instantly welcome. We will most definitely be returning to County Hall at Christmas as it was just perfect!
Although we were a guest of Marriott County Hall all options are my own and truthful.
