If you are looking for a festive treat with the kids at Christmas, JW Marriott Grosvenor House London is offering a luxurious Christmas afternoon tea experience inspired by the hotel’s mascot Grover the dog.

Located within the five-star hotel you will find the award-winning Park room decorated in the most spectacular Christmas decorations. You can enjoy a magical festive afternoon tea with your family in a beautiful and elegant setting.

With delicious treats, fun activities, and a cosy atmosphere, the Kids Christmas Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House London is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season!

What is the Christmas Afternoon Tea?

The Christmas Afternoon Tea is a delightful tea experience served in the luxurious Grosvenor House London. The 5-star hotel is located on Park Lane in the heart of Mayfair. The Grosvenor House offers this festive kid’s afternoon tea inspired by Grover, the hotel’s mascot and longest-standing resident. What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than indulging in a spot of afternoon tea with the family.

This afternoon tea promises to be a fun experience for kids, where they can enjoy traditional afternoon tea treats, prepared by head pastry chef Antony Hurst and his dedicated pastry team who bring to life the much-loved Bulldog with their fantastic pastry designs. Some of the treats include milk chocolate mouse caked shaped like Grover himself, but more on that later.

Kids can also enjoy a range of hot chocolate or tea options whilst listening to the grand piano play Christmas classics. It’s a great opportunity to get your children out of the house and give them a chance to have a very special experience. My boys didn’t quite know what to expect from the experience but were extremely excited and intrigued as to what was coming.

Our First Impression

When we arrived at the Grosvenor House London, we were truly impressed by the grandeur and luxury of the hotel. The lobby was bustling with guests, yet at the same time, it was very peaceful and relaxed.

We had arrived a little early for our afternoon tea, so we took a few minutes to explore the lobby and take in the exquisite Christmas decor and plush furnishings. The Grosvenor House staff were very welcoming and friendly. They guided us to the Park Room, which is where our afternoon tea was taking place. It was an absolutely beautiful room, filled with bright shades of green and elegant furniture. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, making us feel right at home.

The Experiance

We couldn’t wait to see what the Christmas Afternoon Tea had in store for us. Having peeked through the window at our table my youngest could see a little Grover teddy bear waiting in his place. We all were excited to experience a festive afternoon and make wonderful memories with our family.

The kids quickly got comfortable on the cosy chairs where a sealed paw print letter was waiting for them from the Bulldog himself – Grover. Whilst they eagerly waited for their treats to arrive the boys sat and put their jigsaw puzzle from Grover together.

As promised, within minutes of arriving, we were handed the extensive tea menu where we could choose from an array of specialty teas. We were then surprised with the champagne trolley where we were able to choose from a selection of signature champagne to enjoy with our afternoon tea.

The boys enjoyed a cup of warm hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and Grover’s face whilst they waited for the afternoon tea to arrive.

Then came the main act, the delectable three-tiered stand full of savory sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and sweet pastries shaped into the cutest dog accessories. The boy’s eyes lit up when they saw all the amazing treats, their tiny hands could barely contain their excitement as they tried each one in a hurry, overwhelmed with the choice they had in front of them! Riley especially loved Grover the dog’s chocolate mouse cake! 2 of his favorite things, dogs and cake!

My husband and I were also lucky enough to try the festive afternoon tea and what can I say, it was delicious! Unfortunately, I have a strict gluten-free diet due to intolerances and if I’m honest I find it hard to enjoy gluten-free variations of cake and bread. This afternoon tea however was like nothing id had before, I had to ask if they had given me the correct one as I would never have guessed it was gluten-free! So for me, this was an absolute treat!

Will Grover be there?

Much to my youngest’s disappointment, Grover is obviously not a real dog, however, you can meet a big cuddly teddy bear Bulldog snoozing in the Park room. He will be wearing a green dinner jacket and a monocle so you can’t miss him. My youngest was so happy to see him and as you can see from the pictures he gave him the biggest hugs.. then asked if he could take him home!
